Laboratory

Lab 201 is a general purpose laboratory located in the Rutherford building, University of Canterbury. It houses the PR-1 ring laser, a 3-m vibration isolated optical table, Fourier-transform IR spectrometer and other equipment.

Experiments related to investigation of the solid-state ring laser gyro concept are currently the focus of the research being undertaken in the lab.

Lab 201 was given a major overhaul in 2007 almost doubling the size. The facility now has a state of the art air conditioning system and provision for experiments using liquid helium.
